Welcome to Roxburgh Quartet
Welcome to the website for the Roxburgh Quartet.
Based in Edinburgh, we have just celebrated our 10th anniversary year with a series of concerts in our wonderful home venue, Lauriston Hall. As you will see from the repertoire page, we enjoy performing a huge breadth and variety of music from Purcell and Bach through to Eight Colors by contemporary Asian composer, Tan Dun.
Looking forward, our 17/18 season will feature music by the Austrian-British composer Hans Gal who lectured in music at Edinburgh University and was one of the founders of the Edinburgh International Festival. We've chosen to perform his music in celebration of the festival turning 70 this year.
Music by Mozart, Mendelssohn and the Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe will also feature in the coming season. In addition to the annual concert series in Lauriston Hall, we will be performing in the concert series at Glasgow University, the Edinburgh Fringe, and in a wide range of music clubs and venues around Scotland.
As a quartet, we are passionate about engaging audiences of all ages and interests in the wonderful music written for string quartet, and try to actively encourage un-seasoned concert goers to "give it a go". Our belief is simple - at best, the intimacy shared by the performers and audience during live performances can be a truly life enhancing experience.
We hope to see you in the new year at our next concert, which is at our lovely home venue, Lauriston Hall, Edinburgh.
